Crème de Pommes Cake

Ingredients

Cake:

  • 1 white cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup Domaine Pinnacle Crème de Pommes
  • 1/3 cup canola oil

Glaze:

  • 8 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • 1/2 cup Domaine Pinnacle Crème de Pommes

Cake Preparation

Mix all of the cake ingredients together using an electric mixer at medium speed for 1 minute and at high speed for 3 minutes.

Pour cake batter into a greased and floured bundt pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown, dry and springy to the touch.

Glaze Preparation

Melt butter, then add icing sugar and mix with a whisk or a fork until the mixture is silky smooth, without lumps. Add Crème de Pommes and mix by hand until the liqueur is blended in. Refrigerate glaze to allow it to thicken while the cake cools.

Cool cake for 15 minutes then turn out onto cooling rack. When the cake has cooled, drizzle half of the glaze mixture over the top and sides of the cake. Then, when serving each slice of cake, drizzle each slice with additional glaze. Garnish with freshly cut slices of Red Delicious, Yellow Delicious or Granny Smith apples.
