Reviews

Domaine Pinnacle Ice Apple Wine

92 points - Domaine's brilliant amber-coloured ice cider is a thick, sweet apple and caramel potion with vibrant acidity. Awesome with apple pie and aged cheddar.
David Lawrason, Toronto Life

94 Points - ...the best cider in Canada... Utterly hedonistic...
The sparkling equivalent is equally amazing.
Gord Stimmell, Toronto Star

90 Points - Excellent - Amber in color with orange highlights. Apple and dry cider nose. Very good acidity, gentle yet persistent. A refreshing taste. Must be discovered.
Nick Hamilton, Editor-in-Chief, La Barrique Magazine

88 Points - The texture is rich, the apple flavors are intense but clean and the cider has excellent balance.
John Schreiner, Author of Icewine: The Complete Story

Calvados and icewine on the nose and palate, gentle acidity to handle its sweetness.
Malcolm Anderson, Wine Critic, The Montreal Gazette

Powerful and yet delicately balanced, Domaine Pinnacle's Ice Apple Wine will be a perfect complement to your culinary creations, from the traditional to the most adventurous... Enjoy it with appetizers, desserts, or on its own and surrender yourself to its warm notes and mesmerizing aromas.
Jordan LeBel, Food Specialist/Critic, TVA Television Network

Highly Recommended
François Chartier, Author of La Sélection Chartier 2004 Wine Guide

Great mouthfeel, nice alcohol/fruit/sugar/acid balance. Finish is long and clean. Lovely drink, will probably age well, likely becoming more complex with age.
Larry Paterson, Wine Reviewer, www.littlefatwino.com

The apple equivalent of grapes' icewine... a fresh, cool and delicious drink.
Elizabeth Baird, The Toronto Sun

Perhaps the (Eastern Townships) region's best apple beverage is... "Ice Apple Wine," a hard cider fermented from partially frozen fruit in a style that mimics a sweet ice wine. Our favorite, (Domaine) Pinnacle, makes a perfect complement to one of Quebec's other specialties, foie gras.
Patricia Harris and David Lyon, Boston Globe

Apple sauce and cinnamon on the nose. Bursting with sweet ripe sugar apples. This snappy dessert wine is better than your mom's apple pie.
Vendor Magazine

Ice Apple Wine is made from the quintessential juice of the apple. It's a naturally sweet product that makes a delightful after-dinner cordial, whether sipped by itself or served as a complement to a classic dessert like Tarte Tatin. Cheers to Domaine Pinnacle for spreading this exciting "new tradition" -- one that reflects the rich agricultural landscape of southern Quebec.
Ben Watson, Author of Cider, Hard and Sweet

Rich luxurious and sweet... I love this stuff.
Rod Phillips, Ottawa Citizen

Not to be missed... Altogether original.
Jean-François Demers, Le Devoir

What a pleasure to be able to serve such a wonderful regional product to friends and clients and have them discover a new and totally unique taste of Québec - an outstanding product that must be tasted to be believed.
Tim Beal, Chef/Proprietor, Chez Vous Personal Chef Service

Signature Special Reserve

Tied for 1st place in a blind tasting conducted by a panel of experts of all ice ciders
available at the SAQ.

Dark golden in colour, full and intense nose of applesauce, vanilla, and zest of citrus fruits. Rich and sweetly flavourful without being cloying, the finish leaves a crisp impression.
Marc Chapeleau for "Progégez-Vous" Magazine December 2005

BEST CHOICE 2006
With a robe of antique gold, it presents delicate aromas and less bitter accents than the traditional cuvée. Sweeter, therefore more viscous, it keeps a perfect level of acidity which makes it both an intense and a balanced ice cider with complex aromas of applesauce, cinnamon and calvados. Serve as a digestif at the end of the evening with dark choclate and caramel à la fleur de sel.
Guénaël Ravel, "Les Vins Sélection 2006" Éditions Debeur

... the nirvana of Ice Apple Wine, do not miss the stunning Pinnacle Signature 2002, rich and sweet on initial impression, with an incredible complexity (curry, spices, caramel, warm apple)
François Chartier, Author of La Sélection Chartier 2004 Wine Guide

92 Points - Astonishing! - Both the aroma and the flavors are a medley of creme brulé, caramel and maple syrup. It is rich on the palate with a lingering finish; and it is so exquisitely balanced that, for all its intensity, the finish also is very clean. During the past five years, I have probably tasted more than 500 icewines. This Ice Apple Wine fits right in with some of the best icewines. For an icewine fancier, this is a delightful change of pace.
John Schreiner, Author of Icewine: The Complete Story

Sweet with excellent acidity, a heavyweight. Consider this a worthy substitute to great icewine, and use it in the same fashion. Exceptional.
Larry Paterson, Wine Reviewer, www.littlefatwino.com

Pinnacle makes a superb Ice Apple Wine. In particular, the limited edition special reserve is comparable to some of the better Ontario ice wines at half the cost.
Barry Lazar, Author of Barry Lazar's Taste of Montreal

Hint of Calvados on the sweet apple nose and palate - a delight.
Malcolm Anderson, Wine Critic, The Montreal Gazette

90/100 - Spicy, mineral, apple skin, baked apple, honey aromas, quite fresh and very apple-y. Very crisp, fresh, sweet but balanced entry with creamy butter, baked apple, mineral, honey flavors with a touch of butterscotch. Quite intense apple finish with high acidity but a nice semi-dessert style or rich food wine.
